Timberwolves Drop High-Scoring Second Game to Mohawk Valley, 11-8
UTICA, NY —
Despite a strong offensive showing and a wild seven-run third inning, SUNY Adirondack Baseball fell short in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader, losing 11–8 to Mohawk Valley Community College.
The Timberwolves out-hit the Hawks 5–4 and showed patience at the plate, drawing 13 walks, but couldn't overcome a late surge by Mohawk Valley.
SUNY Adirondack took control early after falling behind 1–0, exploding for seven runs in the top of the third. Jack Taylor delivered the biggest swing of the inning with a bases-clearing double that drove in three runs. Taylor finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBIs, leading the Timberwolves at the plate from the seven spot in the order.
However, Mohawk Valley responded with a five-run fifth inning to reclaim the lead. Timely hits from Pelli and Leos, combined with a run-scoring walk by Delacavz, fueled the comeback and gave the Hawks a 9–7 advantage.
SUNY Adirondack's pitching staff battled through control issues, issuing 11 free passes in the contest. Starter Cody Nelson allowed just one hit over 3.2 innings but was tagged for five runs (two earned), walking six. Owen Rowe took the loss in relief.
Beigh earned the win for Mohawk Valley, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings, while Boughner picked up the save.
Despite the setback, the Timberwolves had several bright spots. In addition to Taylor's two-hit game, Peyton Richardson, Charlie Gendron, Christian Mikulski, Tommy Bishop, and Aiden Parslow each drew two walks, showcasing a disciplined approach at the plate.
The Timberwolves split the doubleheader and return home with valuable experience heading into their next stretch of games.
