Phantoms Bested Twice in Thursday's Doubleheader

Delaware and Chester Counties, PA - The Delaware County Community College baseball team continues to not back down from playing the best competition in the area as the Phantoms hosted Middlesex College Thursday afternoon.

DCCC (1-17) lost two games to the visiting Colts (23-15). Middlesex is currently ranked fourth in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Region XIX standings.

The Colts registered a 27-0 victory in Game, before closing out the day with a 15-4 win in Game 2.

Offense was hard to come by in the opener as three Middlesex pitchers - Michael Canavesio, Pablo Baloco, and Michael Calabrese - combined to hold the Phantoms' lineup hitless.

Michael Casson took the loss on the mound for DCCC.

The Phantoms erupted for nine hits in Game 2. The nine hits – off the bats of eight different players – was the second-highest hit total in a single game this season for DCCC. The Phantoms registered a season-high 12 hits against Manor College on March 9th.

Steven Orfanelli had two hits in Game 2 including a double, while Casson, Gabe Palandro, Cidrick Navas, Hunter Whitten, Izaah Perocier, Jake Miller, and Michael Jenkins each tallied singles.

Palandro, Orfanelli, and Jenkins tallied RBIs in the contest.

Trailing 15-0, the Phantoms did not quit as they scored the last four runs of the game.

Jenkins started the game and  took the loss on the mound.

Casson shined with two scoreless innings in relief.

Paul Dipasquale earned the win for the Colts.

DCCC continues a busy stretch with a home doubleheader against the College of Southern Maryland on Saturday. First pitch against the Hawks is scheduled for noon.
