SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Men's Basketball team moves to 4-2 overall after they hosted Sandhills Community College and Thomas Nelson Community College over the weekend.
With the 38-37 lead at halftime over Sandhills Community College, the Statesmen continued to rally through the second half to be victorious over nationally ranked, Sandhills, 82-76.
Lance Monterio led the Statesmen with 29 points and 5 rebounds in all 40 minutes played. Kelby Saunders Jr. chipped in with 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 steals, while Daquan Johnson had 17 points and 6 rebounds off the bench.
Trailing by a small margin at the half, Richard Bland was outscored 46-28 in the second half to fall to Thomas Nelson Community College, 68-48. Eric Wood came off the bench to lead the Statesmen with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Kaleb Coleman had 11 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 steals.
