EL DORADO – Sophomore Sheila Too posted a career-best 5,000-meter time and helped the No. 6-ranked Hutchinson Community College women's cross country team to a fourth-place finish in the 2020 Region VI Cross Country Championships on Friday.

Too finished eighth overall with a time of 19:26.93. That time is the fourth-best Region VI time by a Blue Dragon in program history and she improved her 12th all-time best 5K time and establish a new career best time.

Too's performance was also a sixth-place finish in the Jayhawk West individual standings. The Blue Dragons finished fourth in the conference team standings.

Cloud County won the Region VI team title in dominating fashion with 29 points. Cowley was second with 76. But the Tigers are a Division II team and doesn't count toward the DI team totals. Colby was second with 86, Dodge City third with 93 points and the Blue Dragons had 120 points.

Cloud County also won the Jayhawk West title with 20 points. Colby was second with 64, Dodge City third with 71 and the Blue Dragons were fourth with 89.

Freshman Louise Cocking placed 14th in the region and ninth in the conference with a time of 20:01.99

Sophomore Megan Miller was 34th in the region and 23rd in the west with a time of 21:28.47

Freshman Izzy Wheeler played 37th and 24th, respectively, with a time of 21:37.34.

Freshman Noel Hidalgo was 41st and 27th with a time of 22:04.98.

Freshman Jurney Yung posted a PR time of 22:18.52 to finish 45th in the region and 31st in the conference.

Freshman Jeannie George was 69th and 37th, respectively, with a time of 27:23.34.

The Blue Dragons have one meet left, the 2020 NJCAA Division I National Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 14 in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
