Women's Soccer Shows Bayhawk GRIT this weekend Despite Loss to Holyoke

It was a hard fought day on Saturday when your Bayhawks Women's Soccer team lost 2-1 at Holyoke but they showed true Bayhawk GRIT nonetheless.  After an early goal scored by Holyoke, the women's team kept holyoke on their toes driving several times while staying one step ahead in the backfield due in large part to the defensive strengths and leadership of Breanna Borges (20). Goalie Haley Demello (2) made two saves in the first half.  Alyssa Tortora (17) hammered in a goal with a minute left in the first half to tie the score.  The score remained tied for much of the second half, Borges led in the backfield with drives leading to 5 shots on goal in the second half.  Demello made another 5 saves in the second half but a Holyoke goal 20 minutes in brought the score to its final 2-1 with Bristol unable to score againthat day.  It was an exciting day with two very good teams.  The Women's Soccer are excited to travel to New York on Tuesday for another faceoff against Monroe Express.

On a sidenote, our Bayhawks Women's Soccer team participated in the Jimmy Fund Walkathon on Sunday in support of their coach Jason Tassinari.  They showed true Bayhawk GRIT and represented their team and school well.  We couldn't be more proud!  Go Hawks!
