Spartan Golfers Open Tournament at Deacon's Lodge
The M State Golf Team started their season at the Cougar Classic hosted by UM-Morris and played at Deacon’s Lodge at Breezy Point on Wednesday, August 31. The M State men finished in a tie for second place with Sisseton-Wahpeton College with a team score of 353. UM-Morris won the team title with a 336. Brady Ralph of UM-Morris was the medalist with a 73.
The Spartans were led by Leo Stepan with an 80. Ryker Stukenholtz shot an 89, Joel Quam had a 91, Riley Stromlund a 93, Braxton Kerstein a 99 and Mikey Vall a 102.
Ellia Soydara fired a round of 90 in her first meet as a Spartan, taking second in the Women’s Tournament. Audra Ewan came in with a 105.
The Spartans will compete next at the Jimmie Invite in Jamestown, ND for a 54-hole event on September 12 and 13.
