Thatcher, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbird men fell on Wednesday evening to the Eastern Arizona College Gila Monsters 72-53.
With the loss, Mesa drops to 3-9 overall and 1-6 in ACCAC play, and have now dropped three straight. With the victory, Eastern Arizona improves back to the .500 mark at 8-8 overall and 2-6 in ACCAC action.
It was a tale of two halves on Wednesday at Eastern Arizona. In the first half, MCC kept it close with the Gila Monsters; as they headed into halftime trailing 32-27.
The second half was a complete opposite story, as Eastern outscored Mesa 40-26, on their way to a 72-53 win.
In the loss, Mesa was held to 36% shooting from the field and were just 20% from beyond the three-point arc. Tampa Scott IV was the only Thunderbird to finish in double-figures for scoring, ending the night with 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting, to go along with seven rebounds.
Mesa returns to action this Saturday, January 8, when they head west to face Glendale Community College. Tip time is slated for 4pm.
