Men’s Basketball Picks Up Two Wins Over Weekend

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA - The Richard Bland College men's basketball team moves to 7-4 overall, 1-0 in conference play after hosting Denmark Technical College Saturday, December 3^rd and CCBC Dundalk Sunday, December 4^th. The Statesmen opened conference play with a 58-47 victory over the Panthers and picked up a 72-45 non conference win over the Lions.

Richard Bland held a 34-22 lead over Denmark Tech at the half. Although the Panthers would outscore the Statesmen by one in the second half, Richard Bland came out victorious 58-47. Larry Howell led the scoring for the Statesmen with 18 points. Howell also added eight rebounds, three steals, two assists, and one block. Eric Wood chipped in with 14 points and three rebounds, while Martin Kawa added nine points and six rebounds.

After holding a 38-20 lead at the half, Richard Bland outscored the Lions 34-25 in the second to defeat CCBC Dundalk 72-45. Off the bench, Ibrahim Kourouma led Richard Bland with 15 points. Martin Kawa and Larry Howell added 11 points each with four and five rebounds. Kevon West also chipped in with 10 points. Eric Wood led the boards with eight.

The Richard Bland men's basketball team travel to Cape Fear Community College on Saturday, December 10^th for a conference contest. Tip-off is set for 3pm.
