Lakehawk Softball Takes Runner Up Finish at FCSAA Championship
PALATKA, Fla. (Softball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) Softball took second at the 2025 FCSAA DII Softball Championship over the weekend.
After eliminating Florida Gateway on Friday night in the semifinal, the Lakehawks advanced to the championship game where they faced St. Johns River State College. The Vikings defeated the Lakehawks 8-0 to secure the title.
The Vikings held the Lakehawks to just three hits. Sammi Thomas went 1-for-2 and Emma Chisholm went 2-for-2 in the final.
Lake-Sumter placed four on the FCSAA All-Tournament Team: Amy Bak, Emma Chisholm, Malayla Miller, and Sammi Thomas. Thomas 7-for-11 with five RBIs and four runs scored, Chisholm went 7-for-11 with six RBIs and two runs scored, and Miller went 5-for-11 with two RBIs and three runs scored.
In two appearances on the mound, Bak went 2-0 to help the Lakehawks advance further in the tournament.
Next week teams across the country will compete in their designated district championships. Lakehawk Softball will wait to see if they receive an at-large bid to the 2025 NJCAA DII Softball National Championship in Oxford, Ala. on May 19-24.
