Golden Rams Beat Hibbing, Fall to Rainy River

The Anoka-Ramsey Men's Basketball team split their weekend series against MCAC Northern Division opponents last weekend, beating Hibbing 106-88, and losing to Rainy River 84-60.

The Golden Rams jumped out to a 7-0 lead over Hibbing, and eventually built a 24-8 lead in the first half.  The Cardinals would continue to chip into the deifict though, and pull within 56-49 at halftime.

Hibbing scored the first five points of the second half to get within two points, but an 8-0 Golden Ram run provided a little cushion.

Anoka-Ramsey extended the lead to 75-60 and Hibbing was not able to get back within ten points the rest of the game.

The Golden Rams shot 46.9 percent overall and went 21-28 from the free throw line.  Anoka-Ramsey won the rebound battle 47-34.

Jacob Say led Anoka-Ramsey with 26 points on 8 of 13 shooting and 5 of 8 from the 3-point line to go with eight rebounds and five assists.

Josiah Remus-Ford scored 23 points.

Ontario Chapman scored 17 points to go with a team-high nine rebounds.

Devin Wade-Henderson chipped in 14 points making 8 of 12 free throws.

And Terrell Fountain rounded out the double-figure scorers with 13 points.

On Saturday the Golden Rams fell cold in the second half in their loss to Rainy River.

After leading 39-35 at halftime, Anoka-Ramsey was outscored 49-21 in the second half, shooting just 30.7 percent overall for the game.

Only two Golden Rams reached double figures in scoring with Carson Critchley scoring 12 points, and Isaiah Woodstock chipping in ten.

Anoka-Ramsey is 5-4 overall and will host their annual Holiday Classic December 18-19 with games against Bismarck State on Saturday at 7pm, and Bay College on Sunday at 4pm.
