Hudson Valley Community College women's soccer (5-0) continued their winning ways as the Vikings defeated Clinton 9-0 on Saturday afternoon in Troy, NY.

For the fifth straight game, the Vikings jumped out early and scored their first goal within the first seven minutes of the game. Today, Sydnee Metzold (Rotterdam/Schalmont) found the back of the net at the 3:13 mark on an assist from Cassie Patrick (Schuylerville/Schuylerville) to keep the streak alive. 

Metzold finished the game with three goals and a pair of assists for an eight-point day. She has now scored nine goals and tallied three assists in the Vikings three games this week. 

Brooke Clough (Latham/Shaker) also scored three goals in the Vikings win. She scored her first goal at the 15:33 mark in the first half on an assist from Metzold. Metzold sent the pass up field from 30-yards away and Clough gathered the ball and sent a shot to the lower left corner for the goal. 

Clough scored a couple more times in the second half for her second career hat trick and has now scored six goals in three games this week. 

Madison Pinzer (Wynantskill/Troy) scored her second goal of the season when she connected for the Vikings second goal of the game at the 11:44 mark. Jessica Clifford (Rotterdam/Schalmont) also found the back of the net for the fourth straight game. Clifford scored at the 32:14 mark as she gathered the loose ball at the top of the box and sent it to the right side of the keeper for the score. 

Patrick helped the Vikings get off to a strong start in the second half as she scored on a high shot over the keeper's head from 20-yards away with 38:33 remaining in the game. 

The women's soccer team return home on Wednesday, September 12 as they welcome Adirondack to Troy, NY. The scheduled game time is 2 p.m.
