Richland Meets Raritan Valley to Open National Tournament Tuesday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Dallas College Richland men's soccer team is the No. 1 seed in next week's National Junior College Athletic Association Division III National Tournament in Batavia, New York.

The six-time defending national champion Thunderducks (12-2-0) will meet eighth-seeded Raritan Valley Community College (10-3-3) in next Tuesday's 10 a.m. CT quarterfinals at Genesee Community College. The tournament will air on the NJCAA Network. Live Stats are also available.

Richland is coming off a 3-1 win over Dallas College Mountain View in the South District championship. It was the Thunderducks' third straight win. Raritan Valley beat Ocean County Community College, 3-1, in the East District B championship.

Richland sophomore forward Joseph Min's 15 goals are tied for 13th in NJCAA Division III. He also has eight assists for 38 points, which are tied for 14th in the country. Freshman forward Jose Diaz has eight goals and an assist for 17 points. Sophomore goalkeeper Emmanuel Carmona (12-2-0) is tied for first in the nation in shutouts (9) and second in wins.

Raritan Valley has won its last four games, and is unbeaten in its last 11. German Burset Romero leads the Lions with 11 goals and one assist for 23 points. Angel Cortes, Ryan Rodriguez, Salvatore Stivala and Gabriel Tacco each have two goals. Goalkeeper Juan Orozco (6-1-2) has a 1.39 goals against average and .769 save percentage.

The Thunderducks have won an NJCAA Division III-most 12 national championships.
