NIACC women place fifth at Waldorf Challenge
LAKE MILLS - The NIACC women's golf team placed fifth Monday at the Waldorf University Challenge at the Rice Lake Golf and Country Club.
The Trojans, who were led by sophomore Alyssa Alert's 88, shot a team score of 383. Host Waldorf was the team champion with a 358 and Iowa Lakes was second with a 362.
"Alyssa Alert continues to play solid and her mental approach to her entire game is so much better," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said. "She has the confidence now that if something goes wrong, she can climb right back into it and stay in contention."
Also for the Trojans, Kirsten Boerjan recorded a 90, Karissa Hoon shot 100, Sophie Lunning shot 105 and Emma Weiner shot 108.
"Kirsten Boerjan had one rough hole (Monday), which happened to be her first" Frenz said, "but she really kept her head up and played pretty well, overall."
NIACC returns to action Oct. 10-11 at the Grand View Viking Invitational.
"We've got about a week and half off before our final event," Frenz said. "We'll be ready."
Team standings - Waldorf University 358, Iowa Lakes 362, DMACC 363, Iowa Central 372, NIACC 383, Dickinson State 385, Peru State 397, Culver-Stockton 422.
