Box Score SCRANTON, PA (April 10, 2021) -- No. 4 Snow College scored 17 points in the first quarter, which would be all the Badgers would need to defeat No. 5 Lackawanna C.C. on Saturday. With the win, Snow improves to 3-0 on the season, and will no prepare for back-to-back home games in Ephraim.
The Badgers scored quickly in the first quarter when quarterback
Garrison Beach found tight end
Tevita Noa on a 15-yards touchdown completion. Just over five minutes later, Beach connected with
Tejhuan Palmer in the end zone for a 24-yeard touchdown to give Snow a 14-0 lead. Then with 3:36 left in the opening quarter,
Stockton Lund split the uprights with a 28-yard field goal to increase the Badgers' lead to 17-7.
Lackawanna finally scored at the 10:11 mark in the second quarter on a one-yard dive to cut Snow's lead to 10 points. The Badgers looked like they would take a sizeable lead with just over five minutes remaining in the opening half, but the Hawks stopped Beach on a quarterback sneak over his right guard at the goal line, preventing the touchdown.Lackawanna would begin their next drive at the one-yard line and would drive down the field before Snow linebacker
Mitch Medina intercepted a pass at Lackwanna's six-yard line to end the scoring threat.
After getting shutout in the second and third quarter, the Badgers'
Sione Molisi scored on a two-yard run to take a 24-7 lead with 14:56 left in the game. Lund added the frosting on the cake with a 30-yard field goal at the 12:36 mark. Snow turned to the run game to to run out the clock, and ended the contest on the one-yard line.
Beach was credited with 201 yards passing and two touchdown completions and two interceptions. Palmer had a team-high five receptions for 58 yards and one touchdown. All totaled the Badgers gained 165 yards on the ground, led by Molisi who had 11 carries for 47 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Medina led Snow with 7.5 tackles, including seven solo takedowns. He also had one of two interceptions for the defense on the day.
Snow College will take on ASA Miami next Saturday in Ephraim. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Foote Stadium/Stoddard Field.
