RC scrambles to add games due to COVID-19
Having already felt the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on its schedule, the Ranger College men's basketball program found itself scrambling to find games again on Tuesday when Midland College officials they would be canceling the Chap Classic set for this weekend. Ranger was scheduled to play Midland and Odessa this weekend.
"This weekend's men's basketball Chap Classic at Chaparral Center has been canceled because of COVID-19 concerns," MC officials posted on their website.
Following the announcement, Ranger and Odessa officials agreed to move their game to Odessa as part of a 4-team jamboree on Jan. 29-30. Odessa and Ranger will play for the second time in a week on Jan. 29, starting at 8 p.m. in the OC Sports Complex in Odessa.
New Mexico Military Institute and Loyalty Prep Academy will face off in the first game of Friday's doubleheader, starting at 6 p.m.
Ranger College will face New Mexico Military Institute on Saturday, beginning at 4:30 p.m. Odessa will play Loyalty Prep at 6:30 p.m.
Along with the cancellation of the game Chap Classic, Ranger was notified on Tuesday that Western Texas College was canceling its contest on Thursday due to COVID-19 concerns.
