Newton, NJ - The Brookdale men's soccer team fell to the Skylanders of Sussex County Community College, 3-2. The Blues slow start put them behind the eight ball early, giving up two goals in the first 15 minutes of play.
Sophomore forward Shawn Behrend put the team on the board within minutes before the half. Freshman midfielder Gabriel Vieira's indirect kick found Behrend 12 yards from the goal and his header found nothing but net. Both teams continued to battle in the second half. Sussex found the net again in the 61st minute while sophomore captain Jason Long scorched a direct kick from 45 yards that curled the netting, bringing the Blues within one. Brookdale locked Sussex in their half through the final minutes but could not score the equalizer.
The team will return home to face the Blue Colts of Middlesex County College on Thursday, September 19th at 3:30pm.
