Indoor Track & Field NJCAA Region XII Championship
The Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Team competed in the Dick Small Invite at Defiance University for the NJCAA Region XII Championship.
The Men's and Women's Track & Field Team competed in the Dick Small Invite at Defiance University for the NJCAA Region XII Championship.
The Men's Team had a dominating performance, winning both the Dick Small Invite as well as the Region XII title. Kyler Dean (Vicksburg) continues to impress with a 1st place finish in the 1000m and a 1st place in the 800m. Zach Pray (Fruitport) swept the 200m and the 400m titles. Spencer Anderson (Oakridge) was 1st in the 60m hurdles, Gavin Anderson (Oakridge) won the pole vault and Isaac Easter (West Ottawa) won the long jump.
The Women's Team finished 2nd in the Region, behind Cuyahoga Community College. Faith Clark (Fruitport) continued her comeback tour with a win in the mile as well as wins in the 1000m and the 800m. Neva Hundt (Whitehall) won the 600m and Lainey Canan (Zeeland East) won the long jump and was on the winning 4×400 team. Tori VanTamelen (Hamilton) was 3rd in the high jump and Canan was 3rd in both the 200m and the 400m.
Next up will be the GVSU tune-up on Friday, 2/18 as some Jayhawk prepare for the NJCAA National meet coming up in March.
