
The Emory Oxford men's and women's tennis teams played two matches each over the weekend.
The women's team had a successful weekend, defeating LaGrange College 7-0 on the road. First-years Ellen Liu and Jennifer He teamed up for first doubles, beating their opponents 6-1. In second doubles, sophomores Olha Los and Lily Liu won 6-0.
In singles, Liu, Los, first-year Samantha Goldberg and He all won 6-0. First-year Arba Zhao played first singles and defeated her opponent 6-7, 3-0 (7-5).
The day before, the women played Piedmont University at home on Sophomore Day and lost a close match 5-4. Liu and Los teamed up to win 8-6 in first doubles. Goldberg and Zhao won their doubles match 8-0. Ellen Liu and Jennifer He narrowly lost their match 6-8.
Goldberg (7-5, 6-3) and Zhao (6-3, 6-1) both won their singles matches.
On the men's side, the team was defeated at home 9-0 by NCAA Division I team The Citadel. Sophomore Daniel Bernard played a close singles match but was defeated 3-6, 2-6. On the road against LaGrange, the team lost 6-3.
Bernard and sophomore Ben Xi won their doubles match 6-2. Xi also won 6-2, 6-3 in singles, along with first-year Daniel Naylor (6-1, 6-1).
Both teams will travel to face Piedmont University on Sunday, March 23 at 1 p.m.
