Niagara County Community College wrapped up the home portion of its regular-season schedule with a pair of Region III Western Division wins over Genesee CC on Tuesday afternoon. The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 8 in the latest NJCAA Div. III poll, improved to 38-5 overall and 25-1 in regional play.
Niagara CCC 7, Genesee CC 1
Sophomore Michael Colosi and freshman Brandon Nicholson each hit solo home runs in the victory. Freshmen Zarley Cina and Joe Milkowski added two hits and an RBI apiece, while freshman right-hander Loukas Bechakas allowed just one hit and struck out three to earn the win in relief.
Niagara CCC 14, Genesee CC 0
Sophomore righty Matt Matre moved to 7-0 on the year after striking out three in just two innings of work. Classmate Charles Edwards finished 4-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and six RBIs. Milkowski added three RBIs and sophomore Brett Helmbrecht was 2-for-3 with two RBIs in the win.
Next up is the final doubleheader of the regular season. NCCC travels to GCC at 2 p.m. Thursday.
