Women’s Basketball Completes Away Stretch 3-0

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Women's Basketball team moves to 14-0 overall, 7-0 in conference play after traveling to Denmark Technical College Saturday afternoon.
Earlier in the week the Statesmen defeated the Fayetteville Tech and Wake Tech, both on the road. Richard Bland closed out the week 3-0, by defeating Denmark Tech 83-74 Saturday afternoon. In the first meeting of the season, the Statesmen defeated the Panthers 90-59.
The Panthers came out hot and took a 36-34 lead heading into the break. After trailing through three quarters, the Statesmen picked it up for the fourth quarter to bring home the victory by outscoring Denmark, 31-16.
Three Statesmen scored double-digit figures in the win. Courtney Scott led the way with 25 points. Scott also added four steals, four assists and three rebounds. Off the bench, Kennedee Matthews chipped in with 22 points, six assists, five rebounds and four steals. Auzhane Allard scored her seventh double-double of the season with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Allard was also credited with two steals, two assists and one block. Amira Roy chipped in with five points, Jasmine Norman four, Janiah Jones three and Mercedes Gaither and Reiley Gibson two points each.
Richard Bland went 76.0% from the charity stripe, 42.3% from the field, and 28.6% at the perimeter.
The Richard Bland College women's basketball team next hosts Catawba Valley Community College on Saturday, January 21st. Tip-off is set for 1pm.
