Duty's Clutch Free Throws Helps Bobcats Prevail on the Road at Kennedy-King

WAUWATOSA, WI (November 6, 2018) - The Bryant & Stratton College men's basketball team pulled through down the stretch in overtime at Kennedy-King College on Wednesday night after two clutch free throws from guard, Joe Duty, with seconds remaining to seal the deal in a 78-77 victory. The win improved the Bobcats to 6-2 overall on the season.
It was a back-and-forth battle all game as the score was tied 64-64 with less than a minute remaining in regulations. After both teams failed to score in the closing seconds, the game came down to a five minute overtime period.
"Kennedy-King did a great job pressuring us throughout the game," Bobcats head coach Matt Majkrzak said. "It was a tough environment and they competed hard throughout the entire game."
A close battle throughout the course of overtime, the Bobcats put themselves ahead by one with just under a minute remaining after sophomore guard, Quentin Kendricks, knocked down a three to to put the score at 74-73.
With seven seconds left on the clock, Duty, stepped up to the line where he knocked in two cruical free throws to secure an 78-77 thrilling win.
"We have been fortunate enough to win a lot of close games down the stretch," Majkrzak said. "I think it is a combination of our togetherness and good fortune. I am proud of how resilient and poised we are at the end of games."
Sophomore guard, Kyle McDermed led the way for the Bobcats dropping 18 points, eight rebounds and three assists followed by sophomore, Manny Jingco, with 14 points, three rebounds and three assists.
Duty dropped 14 points of his own while stuffing the stat sheet with five rebounds, two assists, three steals.
The Bobcats shot a season low from beyond the arc at 23% (6-26). They shot just under 39% from the field and 72% from the charity stripe.
This marked as the Bryant & Stratton's fourth consecutive game on the road and they have won three out of the four games by two points or less.

Bryant & Stratton will continue on their road trip as they travel to Moline, Illinois to take on Black Hawk College-Moline for another region iv game. The Bobcats have squared off against Black Hawk College twice over the past two seasons.
In the 2016-17 inaugural season for Bryant & Stratton, Black Hawk College defeated the Bobcats 74-64. Last season (2017-18) Bryant & Stratton got revenge winning 87-78 and will look for a similar result again this time around.
Tip-off will take place at 6:30pm.
