RCGC baseball coach Rob Valli earned career win No. 500 on Saturday after the Roadrunners blanked visiting Union County College 6-0 in Game 2 of a doubleheader to complete a sweep of the twinbill. The win improved the Roadrunners' season record to 37-3 to help them maintain their No. 1 Division III national ranking in the NJCAA poll.
Valli was presented the game ball by Executive Director of Athletics Brian Rowan after the coach earned the milestone win.
Valli now has a career record of 500-305 at Gloucester County College/RCGC and Temple University. His Roadrunner teams won a national championship in 2005 and twice finished as national runnerup.
In the game 2 triumph, Valli's 500th, Anthony Angelino (Deptford) cracked a two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning while freshman Dillon Tassi (Audubon) ripped a solo shot to spark the win.
Freshman Mike Biasiello (Kingsway) scattered five hits and struck out 11 to record a 15-1 victory in Game 1. Catcher Jack Goan, one of the nation's leading hitters, picked two more hits in Game 1.
The Runners face a key test Sunday against visiting Bergen County Community College in as 12 pm start. Bergen is ranked No. 3 in the NJCAA DIII National Rankings.
