Hudson Valley Community College women's soccer (5-2-1) earned a tough 2-0 win against Erie on Saturday afternoon at the Outdoor Athletic Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College.

Marcello Fazio had another multiple goal day for Hudson Valley as he recorded both of the Vikings goals in the second half of the game. Following a hard-fought scoreless first half, the Vikings responded with crisp passes and timely defense to keep Erie off the board as well as provide their offensive with scoring opportunities.

Fazio scored the Vikings first goal of the game on a penalty kick opportunity, which was a result of a deliberate handball with 36:35 remaining. Fazio deked out the keeper and sent the shot to the lower left corner for the goal.

Minutes later, Fazio found himself on a breakaway opportunity. Fazio faded to the right, which brought a defender and the keeper out of position and he sent the shot back to the left side of the net for the score.

The Vikings defense held on for the final 35 minutes of the game, which included a handful of great saves by Hudson Valley's keeper Nate Langlois, to preserve the win.

The Vikings return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 25 as they welcome rival Herkimer to the Outdoor Athletic Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College. The men are scheduled to play at 4 p.m.
