ARNOLD, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College baseball team scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with a 15-14 win in game two of a doubleheader with visiting CCBC Catonsville Thursday evening at Skip Brown Field. The Cardinals won the first game, 20-3, in five innings.

Game Two

Catonsville took an early lead in the nightcap, but the Riverhawks took the lead in the fourth on a three-run home run from pitcher/designated hitter Nicco Holland. AACC extended its lead to 9-4 in the fifth. The Cardinals put up four runs in the sixth, but Jack Woods hit his first career home run in the bottom half of the inning to head into the seventh with a 10-8 lead.

Catonsville exploded for six runs in the sixth, taking the lead on four hits and an error. But AACC rallied in the bottom half of the inning, seeing the winning run come across with a two-out single by Rylan Palle that was mishandled in the outfield.

The wild inning started when Agustin Murillo beat out a wild throw to first, extending his single to second base. After a fly out, Griffin Klein was hit by the pitch and Matt Dove loaded the bases with a pinch hit walk, chasing out Cardinals' reliever Bryson Prietz.

Camden Hodges drove in a run on a single to right before Catsonville recorded the second out. Jack Woods hit an RBI single to left center. Palle's single landed in left field where it trickled behind the fielder, setting up pinch runner Wes Cullison, Hodges, and Woods to come across the plate for the win.

Starter Holland struck out seven while allowing four runs on four hits through three innings on the mound. Matt Donaldson came on in the fourth inning, striking out four and allowing four runs on seven hits. Sam Ross pitched briefly in the seventh before Austin Ferreira got the final two outs to earn the win.

Game One

The Cardinals' bats were alive and they quickly jumped out to a big lead in the game, scoring three runs in the first and six in both the second and third. AACC scored its lone runs in the bottom of the fourth before allowing five more to Catonsville in the fifth.

Camden Hodges led off the fourth with a double and scored when JC Wilson reached via an error on a dropped third strike. An RBI groundout by Palle scored the second run, followed by the third coming across on an Ethan Hopkins double to center.

Starter Jack Davidson was tagged with the loss before the Riverhawks rotated through four more pitchers in the game. Mason Barrall recorded the lone strikeout for AACC in the fifth.

The Riverhawks close out the regular season with a 12 p.m. divisional doubleheader at Hagerstown on Saturday, May 3.
