LCCC Splits on Last Day of Lee College Classic

BAYTOWN, Tex. – The #15 Laramie County Community College volleyball ran into a buzzsaw in the form of #12 on Saturday morning in the third match of the Lee College Classic. The Bulldogs swept the Golden Eagles in Baytown and out-hit them, .321 to .119. LCCC bounced back in the final match and swept Lee College in straight sets with their best performance of the weekend.

Laramie County with the split is now 6-5 on the year. Against Navarro, the Golden Eagles were led by Avery Nelson (Colorado Springs, Colorado) with 11 kills and two block assists, Renae Davis (Pleasant View, Utah) had 18 assists and Alessia Venturelli (Modena, Italy) had 11 digs.

In the final match against Lee College, the Golden Eagles were led by Nelson with 16 kills, Jessica Benedict (Wright, Wyoming) recorded six block assists, Kasandra Sturges (Parker, Colorado) had 27 assists and Venturelli had 16 digs.

Next up, the Golden Eagles will be at Otero Junior College on Tuesday with first serve set for 6 p.m.
