The Tri-C Baseball Team ended a successful comeback season at Ron Mottl Field on Thursday evening as #5 in NJCAA Lansing CC swept the first two games of a best of three series to advance.
Game 1 L 9-4
The Stars jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and added to their lead with 2 more in the 4th. A Jacob Downey solo shot in the bottom of the 4th drew the Tops to a 6-1 deficit but the Stars were just too much and went on to win 9-4. Sloan Ulrich took the loss on the mound for the Tops but Gavin Mangus and Riley McElwain held the Stars to only 3 runs the last 5 and 2/3 innings to give the Tops a shot. At the plate, Downey went 2 for 5 with a double and homerun. Kazmierczak came in as a pinch hitter and had a 2 RBI basehit with Koons picking up the other RBI.
Game 2 L 4-1
In a tighly contested ballgame, the Tops just couldn't muster enough offense against the talented arms of Lansing. On the mound, Skylar Kries had a quality start going 4 innings, scatterin hits and 3 runs while striking out 4. Jackson Judy also had a solid outing going the final 2 innings giving up 2 hits and a run while striking out 2. The offense was hard to come by as the Tops collected only 5 singles (Silas Moore, Mason Koons, Carter Blakeman, Kyle Koehler and Carter Gast). Koehler drove in the Tops only run.
Tri-C ends the season with a 28-12 overall record.
