DMACC women's golf team finishes third in Grand View Invitational

The DMACC women's golf team closed out the fall season with a third-place finish in the Grand View Invitational October 10 and 11 at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny.

 

The Bears posted a 36-hole score of 681 strokes to finish behind Grand View University (GVU) and Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC). GVU won the team championship with 628 strokes and ILCC finished second at 673. GVU's Brooke Boardman took medalist honors with rounds of 74 and 76 on the par 71 layout for an eight-over-par 150.

 

Sophomore Ashley Michel of Nassau, Bahamas, led DMACC with a tie for sixth place. Michel shot rounds of 82 and 77 for a 36-hole total of 159.

 

The Bears got a tie for 16th place from freshman Meg Thompson of Greene and freshman Kaylin Petrak of Grimes tied for 19th. Thompson posted scores of 86 and 88 for a two-round total of 174 and Petrak finished with a 175 total on rounds of 87 and 88.

 

Sophomore Danielle Nolde of Ogallala, Neb., and freshmen Erin Winker of Carroll and Rylee Roberts of Pleasant Hill rounded out DMACC's performance. Nolde shot rounds of 87 and 91 for a 36-hole score of 178 and finished in 21st place. Winker posted scores of 96 and 86 and tied for 24th with a score of 182 and Roberts finished in 33rd place with a 229 total. She shot rounds of 117 and 112.
