Wolves defeat Meridian 7-2 in home opener

The Co-Lin Wolves opened their home opener with a 7-2 win over the Meridian Community College Eagles. Co-Lin travels to Hinds on Friday, Jan. 29 with matches beginning at 2 p.m.

In doubles action, Co-Lin took wins at No. 1 and No. 3. The Wolves No. 1 team of Julian Toloza/Julian Parada defeated Matthew Tennant/Dieter Gonazales 8-4. At No. 3, John Ready/Skyler Rasberry beat William Frank/Cameron Garret 8-2. Meridian's No. 2 team of Colin Hartman/Taylor Jeffcoat defeated Co-Lin's Ty Nelson/Lawson Pearson 8-3.

In singles action, the lone win for the Eagles came at No. 3 singles as Hartman took a 6-1, 6-1 win over Nelson. Co-Lin's Toloza took a three set win over Tennant 6-4, 4-6, 10-5. Parada defeated Gonazales 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2. Pearson got the win in a three set marathon beating Jeffcoat 6-4, 6-6, 10-8. At No. 5, Ready defeated Frank 6-1, 7-5 and Rasberry beat Cainan Black 6-3, 6-4.
