Kawa Leads Statesmen on the Road

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA - The Richard Bland College men's basketball team moves to 11-13 overall, 3-4 in conference play after traveling to Sandhills Community College for a non conference contest, Wednesday evening.

The Flyers took an early, 40-28 lead at the break. The Statesmen outscored the Flyers 41-32 in the second half but would come up just short, 69-72 at the final buzzer.

Martin Kawa paced the Statesmen with 27 points, three rebounds, three steals and one block. Larry Howell chipped in with 16 points, four rebounds and one steal, while Kevon West added 10 points, eight rebounds, two assists and one steal. Kelby Saunders Jr. pitched in with six points and seven rebounds.

Richard Bland went 60.9% from the charity stripe, 42.9% from the field, and 20.0% at the perimeter.

The Richard Bland College men's basketball team next hosts Spartanburg Methodist College on Saturday, February 11^th for their second conference matchup. This will be game two of Saturday's WHITE OUT doubleheader, in which the first 150 students will receive a free t-shirt prior to the start of the game.
