Baseball Back in the Win Column with Two over Itasca

Game 1

 

Four hits from Ben Johnson paved the way to victory for Anoka-Ramsey over Itasca Community College 17-5 on Saturday.  Johnson homered in the first, singled in the second, doubled in the third, and doubled in the fourth.

Itasca Community College scored three runs in the second inning, but Anoka-Ramsey still managed to pull out the victory.  Itasca scored its runs on a triple by Mike O'Malley.

In the first inning, the Golden Rams got their offense started when Johnson hit a solo homer.

Anoka-Ramsey  put up seven runs in the third inning. The offensive firepower was led by Johnson, Jared Crawford, Jake Hansen, Cole Benson, and Brandon Watkins, who all drove in runs.

Kyle Nelson earned the win for the Golden Rams. He lasted five innings, allowing six hits and five runs while striking out two.

Brady Beyl took the loss for Itasca Community College. He allowed 13 hits and 13 runs over three innings, striking out three.

The Golden Rams totaled 16 hits in the game. Johnson, Watkins, AJ Overton, Hansen, and Jared Kent each managed multiple hits.  Johnson went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Anoka-Ramsey Community College in hits.

 

Game 2

Anoka-Ramsey Community College nabbed the lead late in the game in an 8-5 victory over Itasca Community College on Saturday.  With zero outs in the top of the sixth AJ Overton homered on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.

Overton led the Golden Rams to victory by driving in four runs.  He went 3-for-4 at the plate.  Overton drove in runs on a single in the first, a double in the fourth, and a home run in the sixth.

Anoka-Ramsey got things started in the first inning when Overton singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.

The Golden Rams knotted the game up at five in the top of the fifth inning, when Jose Torres's wild pitch allowed one run to score for Anoka-Ramsey.

Colin Bernard was credited with the victory for Anoka-Ramsey. He went four innings, allowing zero runs on five hits, striking out five and walking zero.

Torres took the loss for Itasca. He allowed ten hits and eight runs over five innings, striking out five.

Eric Walker started the game for the Golden Rams. He surrendered five runs on six hits over three innings, striking out three.

Anoka-Ramsey collected ten hits.  Overton, Dylan Conrad, Jake Hansen, and Jared Kent all had multiple hits.
