The Barton Community College cross country teams put a lid on their season Friday at the Region VI Championship in El Dorado, Kansas.

A region loaded with a combined fifteen teams in the nation's men's and women's Top-20 national polls, the 15th ranked Lady Cougars was the lone Barton team entry as the six-pack of runners placed seventh in the nine team field. The Cougar men, who had three individuals in the race, did not qualify as a team.

The Barton women acquired 144 points, ten points from sixth place held by 10th ranked Butler Community College. Cloud County Community College, ranked second in the latest national polls, ran away with the team title with all five team scoring individuals placing in the top ten.

Leading the six Barton first-year collegiate competing entries in the seventy-three runner field was freshman Kayan Green averaging 6:29 per mile to place 16th overall with a time of 20:06.23.

As a team, 3:34 separated Barton's top five entries to meet team scoring qualifications, averaging a 21:34 time completing the 5k race.

Lashanna Graham was next to cross for the Cougars in 25th place in 20:58.53, just two seconds faster than Sasha Brown's 25th place finish at 21:00.62.

Tara Elmer finished in 40th at 22:04.01 with Dayjsha Fanning in 54th at 23:40.84 and Ruth Reyes rounding out the Barton entries in 67th place with a time of 26:48.30.

On the men's side, Kimar Farquharson shaved two minutes off his previous jaunt around the 8k Legions Disc Golf Course in leading Barton with a 46th place 28:25.78 time.

Barton's lead runner, Tyrese Reid was among the top twenty through the early portions but an injury quickly moved him back in the pack to labor in across the finish line in 48th at 28:48.59.
Ethan Woodrome, who got off to a fast start, withered down the chart to place 78th in 31:32.88 out of the ninety man field.
