Gainesville, FL – Two days after besting the #1 team in the FCSAA, the Santa Fe Saints came up short on the road, falling to Tallahassee CC 3-1. The Eagle win avenges their loss to the Saints from Monday, splitting the two game series.
Both starting pitchers were on top of their game through the first four innings, shutting out the opposing hitters for a 0-0 game. TCC (10-1) broke through in the bottom of the fifth on a two RBI single by Ethan Clout, and Clout added another RBI in the seventh to make it 3-0.
Santa Fe (7-2) got themselves on the board in the eight with a run, and had a chance in the ninth with the tying run at the plate, but reliever Brooks Butler shut the door to secure the win.
"We couldn't get anything going offensively," said SF Coach Johnny Wiggs. "We had a few chances to put runs on the board but didn't do a good job executing and moving runners. Trent pitched great again and deserved a better fate. He was one bloop hit away from throwing shut out baseball."
SF will continue their road trip on Saturday, February 13 at South Florida State College with a double header against the Panthers at 12:00 PM.
