Apache Ladies capture two wins in Louisiana
BOSSIER CITY, La. — The No. 8 ranked Tyler Junior College Apache Ladies opened 2020 with two wins in the Bossier Women's Basketball Classic on the campus of Bossier Parish Community College.
On Wednesday, TJC defeated Hinds (Mississippi) Community College 99-31 and followed that win up on Thursday with a 75-67 victory over Pensacola State (Florida) College.
The wins move the Apache Ladies to 13-2 on the season. Pensacola State falls to 12-6.
TJC returns to play on Wednesday, hosting Angelina College in a 5:30 p.m. game at Wagstaff Gymnasium.
Felmas Koranga had a monster game for the Apache Ladies against Pensacola State, hitting for 25 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. The sophomore also had five blocks.
Three other TJC players were in double figures scoring — Te'Aire Hambrick (15 points), Frankazia Boyd (11) and Nala Hemingway (11). Gerlyn Smith had 12 rebounds for the Apache Ladies.
