Football Falls to Hudson Valley
Troy NY- The Erie Community College football team lost to Hudson Valley Community College on Saturday 21-12.
The Kats defense started the scoring when Nicholas Blake intercepted Hudson and returned it 45 yards for the pick-six score on the opening drive of the game. Hudson would respond on the next drive to take a 7-6 lead. The remainder of ths first half was a defensive battle with teams exchanging turnovers but neither able to capitalize and the half ended with Hudson leading 7-6.
The second half saw the Vikings take a 21-6 lead before the Kats put together a 60 play 7 yard drive of their own in the fourth quarter to close the gap to 21-12. Hudson would then run out the clock to claim the NJCAA Region 3 Championship.
Freshman quarterback Gianluca Fulciniti completed 15-25 passes for 189 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also added 276 yards rushing for his most productive game of the season. Receiver Javion Monroe was Fulciniti's favorite target on the day catching seven passes for 103 yards and one touchdown.
The Kats will play Alfred University JV on Sunday, October 31st at 1:00 pm.
