Men’s Basketball Ends First Semester on a High Note

From the beginning the Greyhounds knew that they were in for a battle, the Blazers of North Lake used a 32 matchup zone to slow down the fast paced offense of the Greyhounds and also caused the Greyhounds to turn the ball over ten time in the first half.  The matchup zone and cold shooting combined caused the Greyhounds to be down eleven points at half.

The second half seen the Greyhounds attacking the matchup zone, and knock down some key three pointers, which allowed them to get into their full court press and create scoring opportunities off of North Lake turnovers.  In the first half, North Lake scored 41 points, it seems the Greyhounds got the message from the coaching staff at half time regarding their defense needing to be better, as the Greyhounds held North Lake to 26 points in the second half.

With 55 seconds to go the Greyhounds were down 5 points, Jadon Gilpin made a three point shoot to cut the lead to 2 points.  After a North Lake timeout, the Greyhounds got one more defensive stop, pushed the ball up the court and Bryce Journee made a three point shot putting the Greyhounds up by one to win the game.
