GENERALS CRUSH TWINS 94-54

HERKIMER — The Herkimer Men's Basketball team increased their winning streak to six games with an emphatic 94-54 win over Columbia-Greene CC on Saturday, February 15th.

The last time the Generals played against Columbia-Greene was Jan. 15th, and won 81-79 — courtesy of two game-winning Dante Griffin free throws. That game was reminiscent of the first half, but the latter half told a much different story.

Herkimer (19-6) took a 12-2 lead in the first 3:01 of the game after four consecutive three-pointers by four different players.

Columbia-Greene went on a 14-2 run after its early deficit, and battled with the Generals throughout the first half until a Dante Griffin buzzer-beating three-pointer gave Herkimer a 37-30 halftime lead.

It was all Herkimer in the second half, going on a 15-0 run in the first 6:21 of the latter half.

Herkimer took full advantage of Columbia-Greene's 22 turnovers, and cruised to a 40-point win over the Twins.

The Generals were an efficient 48% from the field (35-of-73) and 41% from three, (11-of-27).

They had a season-high six players in double-figures:

Freshman guard Shykell Brown (Rochester) led both sides with 17 points. Freshman guard Dante Griffin (Utica) added 15. Sophomore forwards Ty Desinor (Brooklyn) and Solomon Silas (Nigeria) added 12, and freshman guards Keyshawn Miller (Yonkers) & Mecca McCullough finished with 10 points.

Miller & Silas led the team with ten rebounds apiece. Griffin & freshman guard Jaylen Warmack (Utica) led both sides with six assists.

Herkimer's final home regular season is Tuesday, February, 18th at 6 p.m. vs. Schenectady CC.
