The Hudson Valley Community College football program had a day on Saturday afternoon as they defeated the New Jersey Warriors 51-6 at the Outdoor Athletic Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY.

The Vikings posted its best offensive day of the season, putting up 410 total yards with 202 passing yards and 208 rushing yards. The game wasn't without mistakes as the Vikings also gave up 166 total penalty yards on 16 penalties against the Warriors. There were 26 total penalties called for over 225 yards.

Despite the excessing penalties, the Vikings still put up season-high numbers, which began on the first play of the game when Jordan Moran hit Daniel Manneh for a 75-yard touchdown pass, giving the Vikings a quick 7-0 advantage.

Following a punt on their next possession, the Vikings forced a fumble on the fourth-down punt and set up a new offensive possession at the Warriors 29-yard line. Desi Floyd closed out the drive with a 15-yard rushing touchdown as he waltzed into the end zone without any defenders in sight and put Hudson Valley up 14-0.

The very next drive, Hudson Valley scored again as Moran connected with Robert Bruce for his second passing touchdown of the game. Bruce ran 24-yards for the score and with Frederick Callo's third point-after kick, put the Vikings up 21-0.

In the second quarter, the Warriors put together a 9-play, 52-yards drive and put six on the board. On the extra-point attempt, the kick was blocked and returned by Thomas Howard 98-yards for the defensive two-point conversion and the Vikings extended its lead to 23-6.

The Vikings defense caused three turnovers against the Warriors, including an interception by Steven Langton at the Warriors 13-yard line. The offense took advantage of the extra possession as Jordan Moran hit Jeremy Clayton for a 12-yard catch and later closed out the scoring drive with a 1-yard quarterback sneak up the middle of the defense, giving the Vikings a 30-6 lead heading into the halftime break. Jayon Renfro led the Vikings with 7 total tackles and Ricardo Colon and Ali Abbasi each recorded one sack. As a whole, the defense allowed 177 total yards, 88 passing and 89 rushing.

In the second half of the game, the Vikings connected for 21 more points and held the Warriors scoreless for the rest of the game. Floyd rushed for his second touchdown of the game with 9:49 remaining in the third quarter. Later in the quarter, Moran hit Rickey Gamble for a wide-open score in the corner of the end zone. Gamble's touchdown was his first of the season.

Hudson Valley scored for the final time in the fourth when Donovan Ivey rushed for a 19-yard score, giving the Vikings a 51-6 lead.

The Vikings football program is off next week and will return to action on Sunday, October 17 when they travel to play Sussex at 1 p.m. in Newton, New Jersey.
