Box Score 2 Thursday afternoon the HCC Scottie Baseball team hosted the Labette Cardinals in their first two games of the series.
Game 1 started off slow for both teams but in the top of the 3rd the Cardinals hit a three-run-homerun over the left field fence and never let up. Mitchell Austin hits an RBI to centerfield starting to answer back to the Labette's five but three more scores for the Cards in the bottom of the 4th made the gap harder to close. Highland would put 7 runs on the board fighting to close the gap but would end up losing 7-15.
The start of game 2 would start off in favor of the Scotties with Jacob Hanson, Mason Nagle, and Bradey Miller all hitting an RBI in the bottom of the 1st but the Cards answer back scoring six in the top of the 2nd. The Scotties would eventually score two more in the bottom of the 7th but with nine runs for the Cards in the top of the 8th the ending score would be 21-5.
The Scotties are now 6-7 overall and 0-2 in conference play. They will travel down to Parsons, Kansas to finish out the series at Labette CC on Saturday, March 4th at 1:00PM and 3:00PM.
