Highlanders ranked seventh in poll, finish third at Andrews
The McLennan Highlanders opened the Fall 2022 season ranked seventh in the Bushnell/Golfweek Division NJCAA Division I Coaches Poll and shot 277-293 – 570 to finish in third place at the Andrews Collegiate/Amateur Invitational this weekend.
Carter Patterson shot 68-73 – 141 to lead the Highlanders and finished tied for sixth place, and Liam Gobin finished tied for ninth with 72-70 – 142. Patterson and Gobin were both named to the All-Tournament team.
Midland finished in first place with 275-279 – 554, followed by Western Texas in second with 277-280 – 557.
Other McLennan scores: Peter Clark, tied for 21st, 69-77 – 146; Kyle Yuan, tied for 21st, 68-78 – 146; Shoichiro Kato, tied for 31st, 76-74 – 150; and Nik Blalock, tied for 31st, 74-76 – 150.
Other team scores: Wayland Baptist, fourth, 279-293 – 572; Odessa, fifth, 283-290 – 573; and Ranger, sixth, 283-298 – 581.
McLennan will host the Waco River Classic Sept. 19-20 with women's teams competing at Cottonwood Creek and men's teams competing at Bear Ridge.
