# 2 HERKIMER EDGES # 3 MOHAWK VALLEY, 73-70

Herkimer, NY - Musa Pough's (Brooklyn, NY) offensive rebound and putback with 33.7 seconds left gave Herkimer a 71-70 lead as they held on to turn back Mohawk Valley by a score of 73-70 on Wednesday night in Herkimer, NY. The win gave Herkimer their 14th win in a row and lifted their record to 17-1 on the season and a 7-1 mark in Mountain Valley Conference action. It was only the second loss of the year for Mohawk Valley, both coming at the hands of the Generals.

The matchup between the # 2 Generals and # 3 Hawks lived up to the pregame hype. After taking a 38-31 lead at the break and a 43-31 lead just a minute into the second half, Herkimer saw Mohawk Valley storm back as the Hawks led 67-62 with just under 4 minutes to play.

But once again, the Generals found a way to come back, ending the game on an 11-3 run. Derrick Felder (Yonkers,NY) hit a 3 and a layup to give the Generals a 69-67 lead but Mohawk Valley hit a huge 3 point shot to take a 70-69 lead with 48.4 seconds to go. That set up Pough's big rebound and basket and after a MV miss, Felder hit 2 free throws with 7.1 seconds to go to give the Generals the 3 point lead. MV got off a 22 footer at the buzzer that glanced off the rim, securing Herkimer's victory.

Teshaun Beckles (Bronx, NY) led the scoring attack for the Generals with 17 points on the night. Pough and Felder added 13 and 12 respectively and Darius Hines (Troy, NY) pitched in with 12 points and Keshaun Howard (Brooklyn, NY) tallied 10 points as Herkimer's balanced attack put 5 guys in double figures.

Next up for Herkimer is a home conference matchup with Clinton Community College on Saturday, Feb 2. Tip time is set for 3:00 PM in Herkimer's Varsity Gym.
