Pioneers Fall in Extras

Pioneers Fall in Extras

Thursday's matchup between Indian River and Miami-Dade proved to be one of the most exciting games of the year.

Dade jumped out to a 1st inning six run lead against the Pioneers. The Pioneers showed no signs of quit however as they answered with a three run inning in route to an 11-1 run in the middle innings. Stabilizing the game for the Pioneers was George Helbig who was not expected to pitch but came to the rescue for the Pioneers as they had to pull the starter in the 1st inning. Helbig went 6 innings giving up 2 runs. The good times did not last however as the Pioneers surrendered the game tying run on a two out error that would have ended the game. The Sharks of Miami-Dade then scored on a walk off single in the 10th to hand the Pioneers a heartbreaking loss. Not to be lost was a 5-5 performance from Dan Oberst who continues to be the heart and soul of this Pioneer team

The Pioneers will be back in action Saturday at Palm Beach State at 1:00.
