Cats Drop Three At Aquinas Tournament
The B&SC Softball program put together a strong showing, but ultimately dropped 3 games at the Aquinas Fall tournament in Grand Rapids Michigan this weekend by finals of 11-4 to Glen Oaks Community, 10-3 to Cornerstone University, and 10-6 to Lake Michigan College.
The Bobcat offense showed glimpses of what it can be, recording 19 hits in 69 at bats on the weekend for an average of .275, but slugged .522 as a team as 7 of those 19 hits went for extra bases. Three other balls that would have gone over the fence for home runs were caught right in front of it by opposing outfielders. Sophomore third baseman Autumn Fuller led the Bobcat offense finishing 4 for 8 on the day with 3 home runs, 6 RBI, and 3 runs scored. Right on her heels was Sophomore Sommer Bourne who finished with 3 hits in 9 tries, all of her hits going for extra bases as she hit two long home runs and a double to the fence. Abby Spalding finished with 3 hits on the day as well. Sam Goode led the way in the circle once again for the Cats throwing 6.2 innings across the 3 games, striking out 2 batters and throwing 65% strikes on the day. Freshmen Abby Southern and Rylee Croucher combined to throw the remaining 9 innings for the Bobcats on the long 3 game day. The Bobcats will be back in action this week as they take on Ursuline College this Friday at Ursuline College and then travel to Avon High School to take on Lorain Community and Butler in a round robin DH on Saturday.
