
NIACC's Warden wins Battle For Helmet title
MASON CITY - NIACC's Tanner Chase Warden claimed the 149-pound title at the Battle For The Helmet Saturday in the NIACC recreation center.
Warden (7-2) gained a 13-4 major decision over St. Ambrose's Daniel Terronez in the 149-pound title match.
Warden topped Bryant & Stratton's Jalin Conner 7-1 in the semifinals. Warden gained a 16-0 technical fall over Iowa Western's Malcolm Williams in his opening round match.
NIACC's Rhett Bonnette was fourth at 133 pounds and Ryan Van Donselaar placed fourth at 165 pounds.
NIACC placed fourth with 62 points. Harper College was the team champion with 152 points and Iowa Western was second with 138 points.
Wrestling unattached, Cruz Aguilar claimed the 125-pound title, Jaylin Smith was second at 197 pounds and Isaac Church was fourth at 141 pounds.
NIACC returns to action Tuesday in a non-conference dual meet at Minnesota West. The dual is slated to start at 7 p.m.
