SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College men's soccer team finishes the season at 13-5 overall, 9-3 in conference play after hosting the Southeast District Final match with the Falcons of Daytona State.
The Falcons came out victorious, 2-1 over the Statesmen in regulation. The score remained even until the 27th minute when Andrew Retmier played a ball into the 18 yard box on a free kick. Matthew Lewis would pick up the loose pinballed ball and stun the Falcon keeper to take the 1-0 lead. The Statesmen would hold the lead until the 89th minute when the Falcons snuck one past keeper, Cristian Rodriguez, making it 1-1. With 30 seconds remaining in regulation, the Falcons again found the back of the net to seal the 2-1 victory. Cristian Rodriguez was credited with 17 saves between the pipes through 90 minutes of play.
The Statesmen finish the season as Region 10 Division I Champions.
