Ottumwa, IA
Freshman Yonas Mogos paved the way and the Reivers drove over the field to close their regular season at the Indian Hills Invitational over the weekend.
Mogos earned his first collegiate win in the 19-second victory and sophomore Kassim Kibet and freshman Wimach Gilo, from Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson, both raced to Top-10 finishes to help the Reivers take the title.
"The guys depth continues to be key to things moving forward and today was an indicator. We had one of our top guys not run the best and if you didn't know our team you wouldn't have even noticed." Said Cross Country Coach Marc Bierbaum, adding, "We had guys step up and fill that hole. In a race that scores five, we'll need numbers four and five big-time during Championship season. It has been a blessing to have multiple guys that can fill that role. Today was a big day for Kassim as well. He's been battling back into shape after missing a couple of weeks and it was great to see him get out there and mix it up in the front."
The Reivers have two weeks to prepare for the postseason with the Region XI Championships scheduled for November 1st in Ft. Dodge, Iowa.
