Softball Starts Season off Strong

Catonsville, MD- The CCBC Catonsville Lady Cardinals softball team kicked off their season with a 10 game stretch in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. They would face 8 different teams and bring home a 6-4 record. After facing great competition, Catonsville is prepared for the MD Juco conference and Region XX play. They will host Montgomery College in a double header on Wednesday, March 13th.

Game 1 (Mar. 06): CCBC Catonsville 6, Grand Rapids CC 2.

Game 2 (Mar. 06): CCBC Catonsville 8, Danville Area CC 3.

  • Alleshia Pullen would drive in the Cards first homerun of the season
  • Akirra Pullen would receive her first collegiate win.
  • Heuer closed the game to earn her first save. She would also hit a double.

Game 3 (Mar. 06): Henry Ford College 8, CCBC Catonsville 7.

Game 4 (Mar. 07): Danville Area CC 9, CCBC Catonsville 0. (6 innings)

  • Some struggles caused Catonsville to fall in 6 innings during this contest. Madeline English would record the Cards only two hits.

Game 5 (Mar. 07): PSU Beaver 2, CCBC Catonsville 0.

  • Despite an excellent outing by freshman pitcher Chrissy Jordan- the Lady Cards lacked run support. Jordan only allowed 5 hits.
  • Heuer would hit her 4th double of the trip.

Game 6 (Mar. 07): CCBC Catonsville 15, Lackawanna College 7.

  • The bats came alive against Lackawanna as Catonsville drove in 15 runs with the help of Hailey Manning (2B), and Alleshia Pullen (3B).
  • Akirra Pullen pitched a complete game. She would also record 8 strikeouts.

Game 7 (Mar. 08):  CCBC Catonsville 9, Gilford College JV 2.

 Game 8 (Mar. 08): Schoolcraft College 7, CCBC Catonsville 5.

  • Although the Cardinals would continue their impressive amount of doubles- they would fall by just two runs during the contest.
  • 2B: Manning, Holderfield (2)

Game 9 (Mar. 09): CCBC Catonsville 10, Gilford College JV 4.

  • The Lady Cards would top Gilford JV for the second time on the trip.
  • 2B: L. Propst, Holderfield
  • Chrissy Jordan would record 5 strikeouts in 6 innings.

Game 10 (Mar. 09): CCBC Catonsville 8, Genesee CC 0. (5 innings)

  • Catonsville would close out their trip on a high note as they defeat Genesee CC by 8.
  • Both Manning and Holderfield would once again hit a double.
  • From the mound, Amy Propst would deliver 5 shoutout innings while only allowing 2 hits.

Catonsville would once again prove themselves to be a powerhouse in the hitting department. With a slash line of .401/.471/.502, they are ready for their in-conference and region play. They will have their first home stand on Wednesday, March 13th against Montgomery County.
