Women's Soccer Ends Losing Streak with Win at Niagara

Hudson Valley Community College women's soccer (7-2-1) ended their losing streak with an 8-0 win at Niagara on Sunday afternoon. 

The Vikings took a 5-0 lead heading into the half and followed it up with another three goals in the second half. 

Hudson Valley got on the board when Kaitlin Nadeau (Latham/Shaker) scored on an assist from Sydnee Metzold (Rotterdam/Schalmont) at the 36:19 mark. Nadeau wasn't done as she also scored the Vikings second goal of the game with another assist from Metzold at the 34:00 mark. 

Brooke Clough (Latham/Shaker) had a great game for Hudson Valley as she scored the next two goals and assisted on a third to close out the first half. Clough's first goal came at the 32:41 mark on an assist from Kristen Bikowicz (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills). She would later score again on a penalty kick at 20:34 and recorded an assist on Metzold's goal at the 5:25 mark.

Metzold finished the game with one goal four assists as she also assisted on Elise Ainsworth's (East Greenbush/Columbia) goal in the second half at 27:38 and assisted on Bikowicz's goal with 2:36 remaining in the game. 

Cassie Patrick (Schuylerville/Schuylerville) scored the Vikings final goal of the game with 1:34 remaining in the game and was assisted by Bikowicz. 

Women's soccer returns to the pitch on Sunday, October 7 when they travel to play North Country at 1 p.m.
