RedTail Bowling Kicks Off Their Fall Season

RedTail Bowling Kicks Off Their Fall Season

The RedTails started off the Fall 2023 season on Saturday and Sunday, October 14-15, competing in the Mid Iowa Bowling Conference in Cedar Rapids.

The women were in the top four all weekend long, with being as high as second a couple times within the tournament. Lauren Funk led the team, finishing in a tie for fourth place and making the All Tournament Team averaging 194 for her five games. Chloe Marks was right behind, in a tie for sixth place averaging 187.8 and Anna Becker was a strong performer as well and averaged 175 in 14th. Both teams were able to best fellow JuCo inner state rivals in Iowa Central. The RedTails energy was high on both sides and it definitely showed in their overall performance. The men were able to jump from eighth to sixth on the second day, over Iowa Central. Jacob Mattison took charge, hyping up the men's team and finishing in 28th place averaging 187.6.

Head coach Roger Taylor had some exciting words after the conference.

"With this group we have this season, we are excited with the potential as we hit the ground running," he said. " Our next event we head back down to Cedar Rapids for Mt Mercy's home event, the Five Seasons Classic, and the stakes are going to be fairly high as the format calls for more of a head to head match up to each team and win-loss records determine the tournament standings."

The RedTails next competition is the Five Seasons Classic on Saturday and Sunday, October 28-29 in Cedar Rapids.
