MARSHALL SETS TWO RECORDS AT HAWKEYE INVITE

Iowa City, IA – Defending national champion and national record holder Rivaldo Marshall (Kingston, Jamaica/Calabar) opened up 2023 with another dominant performance on the track as the Indian Hills Men's Track & Field squad competed at the Hawkeye Invitational on Saturday.

Marshall, who set the all-time, all-conditions 800-meter run National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) record in December helped set two new Indian Hills school records at the University of Iowa on Saturday. The sophomore standout dashed to the 600-meter school record and a first-place finish with a time of 1:17.94, 0.62 seconds off his previous top mark. The time is the ninth-best mark in NJCAA history.

Along with his individual performance, Marshall teamed up with the men's 4x400 relay squad to set another school record and took home first-place honors with a time of 3:12.56, 0.53 seconds ahead of the University of Iowa squad that featured former Warrior Nick O'Connor. Marshall was joined by teammates Woyn Chatman (Little Rock, AR/Little Rock Central), Tyrice Taylor (Linstead, Jamaica / Linstead), and Chris Johnson (Houston, TX/Cypress Park) to set the new record.

Marshall was joined by a series of impressive performances from fellow teammates in the 600m event that rewrote the record books. Taylor placed second overall with a time of 1:18.92 while Mohammed Al-Yafaee (Doha, Qatar/Aspire Academy) placed fourth overall with a time of 1:20.11.
