Lady Indians defeat Lady Bears

Lady Indians defeat Lady Bears

Friday November 9, 2018: Women's Basketball

Baton Rouge, LA

For the second straight game, the Lady Bears started the game timid and sluggish on both ends of the floor, in which, their opponent, took advantage and built an early lead that the Lady Bears could not overcome. Tonight's opponent was the Lady Indians of Itawamba, who scored the first 16 points of the game to take an early lead which they would not relinquish.  The Lady Bears did not score their first points till 4.25 left in the first quarter, with a free throw by Kayla Watson. BRCC closed the first quarter trailing the Lady Indians 19 to 5.  The second quarter was a repeat of the first quarter.  BRCC struggled, in the second quarter, to score and multiple ball handling mistakes let the Lady Indians get out in transition and score easy buckets.  The halftime score was Itawamba 37 and BRCC 15.

The third and fourth quarters were dominated by the Lady Indians as they continued to get out in transition, dominate the boards and kept the Lady Bears offense flustered.  The final score was Itawamba Lady Indians 79 and BRCC Lady Bears 47.  Itawamba improves to 2-1 on the season, as BRCC falls to 0-3.

BRCC shot 32 % from the field, 58% from the free throw line and committed 27 turnovers.
